Championship ‘first’

The Giro d’Italia was not the only big sporting event in Whitehead last weekend as County Antrim Yacht Club hosted for the first time the Ulster 420 Championship.

Despite road closures and traffic disruption, the club noted that no one was deterred and in addition to local competitors, entrants travelled from as far afield as Howth, Galway, Wexford and Cork.

“The championship was played out over two thrilling days at the weekend with races on Saturday and Sunday.
