Changes are afoot for UUP MLAs

ULSTER Unionist MLA George Savage could be facing deselection.

In a vote in the Upper Bann Mr Savage came fifth in the selection meeting with his Assembly colleague Sam Gardiner finishing third.

The poll was topped by Colin McCusker, son of former MP Harold, while Craigavon councillor Jo-Anne Dobson came second. The party's Westminster candidate Harry Hamilton came fourth.

It's understood the party is planning to run three candidates in the constituency.

A UUP spokesperson said: "Five names will now go forward to a selection committee at party headquarters which is made up of local association representatives and central party representatives."
