Changes to CraigavonHospital parking

Changes to the main car park at Craigavon Area Hospital will come into force later this month as part of work on a new paediatric centre.

The number of spaces at Car Park 1 will be “greatly reduced” from Monday, April 25, with replacement spaces provide at the extended car park beside GP Out of Hours.

A hospital spokesperson said a number of spaces will remain in the main car park including those for disabled badge users. There will also be a new entrance and exit from the main avenue.

The new paediatric centre, which will be situated in car Park 1, is part of an overall plan to modernise hospital services for children and young people across the Southern Trust.

Construction will begin on Tuesday, April 26. The trust’s interim chief executive Kieran Donaghy said, “After several years of planning, we are delighted to see work on the new paediatric build begin...

“We appreciate that the new car parking presents a big change for everyone who uses the hospital, but hopefully with the signage around the site and with the help of staff, we will all get used to the new arrangements quite soon”.

The paediatric centre is due for completion in 2017.

All planned paediatric surgery for the southern area will be centralised in a new purpose-designed centre on the sixth floor at Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry.
