Charity benefits from Holly’s new hairstyle

The big-hearted seven-year-old, from Russell Manor, recently got her long locks snipped off at the Studio 51 salon on Main Street so that she could donate her ponytail to the Little Princess Trust - a charity that provides wigs for children who’ve lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

Holly, a P3 pupil at Fairview Primary School, had around 10 inches taken off the length of her hair, but she was far from distraught at losing her lovely locks.

“She had a great day and she loved all the attention. She loves having a bob and says she’s never letting her hair grow long again,” said her proud mum, Laurie.

Over the past few weeks, Holly has been trying to raise around £350 for the Little Princess Trust - the amount it costs the charity to make each wig. But with the help of family, friends and staff at Fairview Primary and Studio 51, she has already surpassed that target.

“She’s raised about £500 so far, so she’s doing brilliantly. People have been really generous and everyone has been so, so good in supporting her. It’s just been really great and everyone’s really proud of her,” Laurie added.
