Charity coffee morning in library

Lisburn City Library will be hosting a coffee morning on Friday September 30 as part of Macmillan Cancer Support's World Biggest Coffee Morning event.

The local library is one of 57 in Northern Ireland taking part in the charity event next week, and local people are being urged to call in for a cuppa to support Macmillan.

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. One in three of us will face cancer, and the money raised at these Coffee Mornings will help Macmillan make sure no one has to face it alone.

Irene Knox, Chief Executive of Libraries NI, explaind: “Libraries NI is delighted to support the work undertaken by Macmillan by offering information and resources in our libraries and annually by supporting the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning with a record 57 libraries taking part this year.

“What better way is there to help than by having a cup of coffee with friends in the library? I would like to invite you to call into a library near you on Friday 30 September and help us support the work of Macmillan by raising funds to make sure that no one has to face cancer alone.”

Last year, Macmillan raised £25 million and this year, they aim to raise even more to fund the charity’s vital services from specialist nurses and doctors, to grants and advice for people who have money problems because of their illness.

The coffee morning will be held in Lisburn City Library from 10.30am until 12.30pm.
