Charity night at the Fullerton is big success

A major fund-raising night at the Fullerton Arms in Ballintoy has raised some £3000 for two leading charities.

Both Marie Curie and Macmillan Cancer Care will receive equal amounts from an event that the organisers hailed a big success.

Organised by Jackie Colgan as her family’s way of saying thankyou to nurses who looked after members of her family during illness, the Fullerton was packed to capacity with diners and dancers who not only enjoyed an excellent meal, but had three singers perform - Carmel McCaughern, John Long and Sally O’Brien.

The cheques will be handed over later this week at the Fullerton and Jackie would like to thank all those who contributed to the event.

She has praised those who purchased meal and raffle tickets as well as the many businesses who sponsored prizes and gave cash donations.

Jackie told the Times: “It was an event that gained great community support and we are indebted to the management of the Fullerton for their help.

“To Bobby, Jennifer and Catherine as well as to Peter, the chef, and Darren Tanahill we owe a debt of gratitude.”
