Charity night in memory of Stuart

THE family of a young Rathfriland boy who died in a freak accident last year are organising a fundraising night in his memory.

Six-year-old Stuart Wilson died in hospital three days after being hit by a speedboat during a family holiday at Cranfield in September.

The Rathfriland community came to a standstill for the young boy’s funeral, which was one of the biggest seen in the area.

Now friends and family have teamed up to organise an event to raise money for nominated charities in the wake of such a tragedy.

The charity dance and auction is due to be held in the Belmont Hotel in Banbridge on Friday March 25.

Tickets are now on sale for the The Stuart Wilson Memorial Fund Charity Dance and Auction which will kick off at 8pm and looks set to be a night to remember.

Headlining on the night is one of Ireland’s most sought-after bands, the James Peake Xperience. The five-piece outfit are known to put on a great show including entertaining costume changes and musical impersonations from some of the world’s top performers ranging from Elton John to Freddie Mercury and Elvis to Tom Jones.

Also providing music is local man DJ Dowellsy. Admission is £10 which includes a buffet supper and free prize draw.

Prizes are coming in thick and fast for the grand auction, and there are a number of much sought-after items up for grabs on the night.
