Charity trek to visit local Folds

A CHARITY walker will take a stroll through Banbridge later this month in the hope generous residents will boost his fudraising for Action Cancer.

John Cross is embarking on a 450-mile charity trek and during his mammoth 39-day challenge the 68-year-old will visit Riversly Fold in Banbridge and Bronte Fold in Rathfriland.

By the time John reaches Banbridge on Wednesday May 9 he will have covered a distance of over 260 miles and will have been walking for 24 days.

When asked why he was undertaking such a venture John said, “Unfortunately cancer impacts on the lives of so many people in Northern Ireland and within the Fold community.

“This walk gives me the opportunity to raise money for Action Cancer and to raise awareness of the support that is out there for those affected, as most of us have been in some way or another.”

Local Fold Coordinators will be hosting a reception to mark John’s arrival at their scheme. Members of the general public are welcome to come along and show their support for John.
