He said the new Radiotherapy Unit will offer increased capacity in Northern Ireland for radiotherapy services and will cater for over half a million people living in the Londonderry, Limavady, Strabane, Omagh and Fermanagh districts, as well as patients in the Northern Trust area, including Coleraine, Moyle and Ballymoney.

“This unique cross-border project will also treat patients from the Republic of Ireland including north to mid-Donegal and will make a real difference to people being treated for cancer and their families. The Radiotherapy Unit is expected to be completed by 2016,” he said.

“I would also like to acknowledge the significant additional benefits to the community that this investment is bringing in terms of additional training and employment opportunities as well as opportunities for sub-contractors and suppliers,” he said.
