Opposing bail a police officer said there was a concern about interference with witnesses.

Outlining the background to the alleged offences she said that at 6.30pm police were called to an address where the defendant’s 16-year-old relative said Reilly had been chasing her and attempting to stab her with a knife.

As she made her way to the police the defendant locked himself in the house with three younger children.

When he was arrested two joints of suspected cannabis were in his possession and two BB guns were found in a dresser in his bedroom.

Applying for bail a solicitor representing the defendant said the girl lived with her father in Liverpool and was only here on a temporary basis.

She was returning to Liverpool.

He added that there was a bail address available in Portadown and Reilly could be excluded from the Lurgan area.

The solicitor said he has no previous convictions for this type of offending.

District Judge, Mr Peter King, said there was a clear risk to witnesses and remanded Reilly in custody.

The case was put back until June 17 by videolink.
