It comes after crews were requested to assist a fishing boat that was recovering at Larne Boat Club at 10:30pm on Saturday night (June 20).

“A stiff south easterly wind meant the conditions were too dangerous for the single male to transfer to a punt to return ashore,” Larne RNLI said.

“Crew on the D-Class lifeboat, Terry, recovered the male in Larne Harbour and returned him to the care of Larne Coastguard at East Antrim Boat Club.”

Speaking after the call, helm Barry Kirkpatrick added: “Everyone should respect the water, make sure to check all equipment and the local weather forecasts before heading to sea. If you see anyone in trouble at sea, contact the coastguard on 999 or 112.”
