Children have lucky escape in suspected drink drive crash

Police have said a crash in Craigavon involving a suspected drink driver with three children in their car could have been so much worse.

The crash involved a vehicle carrying a man and woman with three children (one of which was just an infant.

The incident happened on St Patrick’s night (March 17) at Brownlow Road, Craigavon.

Posting on social media police today (Thursday, March 18) said: “Last night Lurgan NPT, Brownlow NPT and Lurgan LPT dealt with a report of a drunk driver in the area of the Brownlow Road, Craigavon.

“A man and woman were seen running away from the vehicle along with three children, one of which was a very young baby.

“Police located the two adults and children nearby. The adults were arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit along with a number of other driving offences.

“Thankfully the children will recover from their injuries, however, It could have been so much worse.

“It’s not thought the children had any restraints in place, 6ft to the left was a 25ft drop and 2ft left was a very large tree!!”

Police warned: “Never ever drink and drive and NEVER put your child’s life at risk by bringing them with you!”
