Chloe’s Olympic dream comes true

A SPORTS enthusiast from Dromore will enjoy the opportunity of a lifetime later this month when she joins the world’s top athletes and spectators at London 2012.

Sports science graduate Chloe Sudlow was chosen from applicants across the globe to be part of the Events Service Team at the Riverbank Hockey Arena.

The former Dromore Ladies hockey player told the Leader she was delighted to be picked for the two-week adventure.

“I am looking forward to what is going to be such a big opportunity for me,” said the 22-year-old who hopes to continue playing sport and get involved in coaching.

“I love and have always loved sport and now I have the chance to meet a lot of like-minded people and share this exciting experience with them.”

Chloe will begin her stint on July 29, but has already sampled the delights of the Olympic village during a training session earlier this year.

“I was lucky enough to be handling tickets so I met Olympic organising committee chairman Seb Coe, athlete Jelly Holmes and comedian Jimmy Carr.”

The former Dromore High School pupil hopes to spot plenty more famous faces when the games get underway.

While Chloe was disappointed not to secure tickets for any of the events, she said being involved for those two weeks is sure to make up for that.

“I would’ve loved tickets for the athletics but being based in the main Olympic village for the full two weeks and being at the hockey events will be an absolutely amazing experience.”
