Choir celebrating anniversary

COUNTERPOINT choir is to celebrate its 60th anniversary this year.

The group, who meet at Hill Street Presbyterian Church, are to celebrate with a commemorative concert to be held in Craigavon Civic Centre on Saturday, October 23. Proceeds will go to the Lurgan and Moira branches of Cancer Research.

The group is made up of 23 members and have recently brought in a new conductor, Michael Harris, from Portadown, head of music at the Royal School, Armagh.

Over the years, the group have performed under seven conductors, who have guided the choir to sing all types of music and cater to a variety of audiences.

The choir practises on Monday evenings and would welcome any extra tenors and basses who would wish to join them.
