Christmas car parking meeting

At the March meeting of Banbridge District Council it was unanimously agreed that a meeting be convened with Banbridge Regeneration Company to ascertain their views on the free Christmas car parking and discuss preparations for Christmas 2014.

This was resolved after Councillor John Hanna requested that a sub-group be established to consider major initiatives to promote Banbridge as a shopping destination. Councillor Jim McElroy pointed out that the rates in Banbridge are the fifth highest in Northern Ireland and stated that these must be reduced.

Councillor Joan Baird said short notice was given to the public regarding the free car parking last year and she suggested that this should be done well in advance this year.
