Christmas Day dinner for senior citizens

A kind hearted Coleraine woman is organising her annual Christmas Day dinner for senior citizens.

Margaret Peacock has been putting on this special event for the past 23 years.

She’s urging senior citizens to get in touch with her and not to spend Christmas Day alone.

“We still have a few places left,” Margaret told The Times.

“This year the dinner will be held in the Lodge Hotel.

“We’ll also provide transport to and from the person’s home - so there is no excuse,” laughed Margaret.

Margaret and her team of helpers have been working hard in preparation for this year’s evemt. Not only will those in attendance get a four course dinner, they’ll also get a present from Santa Claus himself, there will also be a raffle and the good news it is all free.

“I would hate to think of anyone young or old sitting alone this Christmas Day, “ told Margaret.
