Christmas sparkle and cheer will return to the streets of Ballycastle on Thursday 5th December, when Moyle District Council Chairperson Cllr. Cara McShane and friends gather together to switch on the town’s Christmas Lights.

In an evening that offers something for all the family, the Christmas Lights and Carols event will commence in Ballycastle Diamond at 6.30pm with the annual interdenominational Community Carol Service, followed by the ‘Big Switch-on’ at 7.30pm.

During the celebration service of carols and readings, everyone will be encouraged to join in and sing along with the seasonal carols, led by a joint choir of students from Cross & Passion College and Ballycastle High School.

After a blessing from representatives of the three main churches in the town, Cllr. McShane will be joined on stage by Ballycastle Chamber of Commerce Chairperson Mary O’Driscoll for the countdown and switch on of this year’s Christmas lights at 7.30pm.

Making sure the children won’t be disappointed, members of the Community Rescue Service have promised to give Rudolf and his pals a rest by helping their good friend Santa Claus bring his sleigh from the Seafront, (where he is expected to land having come directly from the North Pole), to the Diamond.

DJ Jake will be there to set the scene and provide us with lots of fun and music until 9pm, while Santa meets the children and shares out sweets.

The evening is supported by Moyle District Council, Ballycastle Chamber of Commerce, Ballycastle Church Action and the Community Rescue Service.
