Christmas lights set for switch-on in Bawnmore

BAWNMORE and District Residents’ Association is inviting local people to attend its Christmas tree lights switch-on celebration on Saturday, November 3.

The event, which will be attended by Newtownabbey Mayor Victor Robinson, local politicians, church leaders and community representatives, will take place at 6pm in Bawnmore Park.

As well as the Christmas tree, the Bawnmore decorations will also include a nativity scene made up of figures that are over 100 years old, presented by the local parish church.

Urging people to come along and join in Saturday’s celebrations, Residents’ Association Chairman Seamus Kelly said it promises to be a night not to be missed.

“There will also be an international arts and crafts workshop hosted by ARTSEKTA and a variety of Christmas decorations will be on sale, with all donations going to the local school,” he added.
