Christmas postal dates

East Antrim DUP MP Sammy Wilson and MLA Gordon Lyons have paid tribute to the work of local Royal Mail staff as they prepare for the Christmas period.

The elected representatives made their comments after a visit to the Royal Mail sorting office in Larne where they met with staff and discussed plans for the busy time ahead.

Mr Wilson said: “It is always a pleasure to visit the Royal Mail sorting office in Larne in the run up to Christmas and view at first hand the hive of activity that occurs at this time of year. These men and women brave all types of weather to ensure that we receive our post in time for Christmas and I want to thank them personally for all the hard work they put into this massive effort.

Mr Lyons added: “I want to thank the hardworking postmen and women in Larne for taking time out of their busy schedule to give Sammy and I an insight into their work at this hectic period. These men and women work incredibly hard so that we all receive our mail in time for Christmas and we want to wish them the best as they once again embark on this task.

“I would encourage everyone to post their mail by the recommended dates set out by Royal Mail online to ensure a smooth operation once again this year.”

The final Christmas postal dates are Tuesday December 20 for second class and Wednesday December 21 for first class mail.
