Church applies for planning approval

CRAIGAVON councillors have voiced their support for two planning applications submitted by Waringstown Presbyterian Church.

One of the applications is for a new church development on the Mill Hill, while the other is for a housing development on the Banbridge road consisting of 52 dwellings.

The DUP’s Stephen Moutray said it was “important” the application was successful.

“This has been going through for some time, he said.

“It has been a difficult, laborious and complicated process, and it’s important that it gets permission.

“The church is very much at the heart of the village, and hopefully this will be an opportunity for more facilities to be provided, which historically were not provided.

“I suggest we go with the recommendation before the chamber and I wish the church all the best in this application.”

He added: “The greater community will benefit from that.”

UUP councillor Jo-Anne Dobson also supported the motion, saying: “The has a thriving congregation and plays a very active role in the community.”
