Church '˜blessed' by new venue

The congregation of one of Lisburn's fastest growing churches, Lagan Valley Vineyard, has been settling into its new home at Altona Industrial Estate.

The new church venue in the heart of an industrial estate, in a building which once housed Jollyes Pet Store, may seem like an unusual place for a church but the completely renovated building is the perfect home for the ever increasing Vineyard family.

The church leaders - Andrew and Dana Masters, and Mark and Yvette Wilkinson - were delighted to secure planning permission for the regeneration of the 6,500 sq ft building at the end of last year and work quickly began to revamp the space.

From humble roots with just 24 members, Vineyard’s numbers have grown steadily, with over 200 adults and children now worshipping each Sunday.

In fact, the church, which employs four staff and seven interns, has expanded at such an amazing rate that they have even had to invest in a caravan to accomodate the older children on a Sunday morning.

“We moved into the new building in February after a seven week turnaround,” explained church leader Andrew Masters.

As well as the main worship space, the new venue also includes two rooms for Sunday School, as well a room for parents with babies and kitchen facilities.

“Everyone involved in the revamp went above and beyond. The support from the community has been incredible. We feel so blessed.”

Despite the growing numbers at Lagan Valley Vineyard, they are still keen to encourage people to come along to their Sunday services and to get involved in church life.

As well as the normal service at 10.30am, the church has begun an evening service at 7pm on a Sunday, which will finish for the summer at the end of June.
