Church groups urged to get walking

A LARNE man is encouraging groups from local churches to get their trainers on to help raise funds for aid work in Haiti.

Maurice McIlroy of Ballyrickard Road is appealing on behalf of World Gospel Mission (WGM) for groups of all ages from all denominations to help raise money for WGM’s on-going recovery work in the earthquake-stricken area by taking part in this year’s Belfast City relay marathon.

There are five stages over the 26-mile circuit, so teams are invited to enter five people to run or walk distances from three to seven miles.

With workers established there for several years, WGM has given an assurance that all money raised will go directly to the people of Haiti.
