Church initiative to halt lead theft
larne police are to look at the possibility of setting up a “church watch” initiative to help prevent the current spate of lead thefts throughout the borough.
Members of the borough’s District Policing Partnership had queried if anything could be done to try to curtail those who target churches and other buildings to rip out valuable lead.
Chief Inspector John Magill told members that he would ask his senior officers to look at the “church watch” initiative running in other areas. He added that crime prevention advice was available to all the public.
