Church leaders unite for Walk of Witness

Leaders of the four main Christian churches in Londonderry will lead a cross-community '˜Walk of Witness' through the city centre on Good Friday to commemorate Christ's crucifixion and death at Golgotha.

The event presents an opportunity for participants to present a united Christian Witness.

The ‘Walk of Witness’ will begin at 12 noon on Good Friday at St Columb’s Hall. It will proceed to Guildhall Square, passing through the Richmond Centre (which has kindly agreed to facilitate the event) and down Shipquay Street.

The event will include readings from Scripture and hymn-singing, and all are welcome.

At St Eugene’s Cathedral on Good Friday at 7.30pm there will be the celebration of the Passion.

This will be followed at 9pm with live stations of the cross where young people will lead the stations.

St Eugene’s Cathedral will hold their Easter vigil on Saturday night at 9pm.

Easter vigil Masses will take place in St Patrick’s Pennyburn and St Brigid’s Church on Saturday night at 6pm A vigil Mass will take place in St Joseph’s Galliagh at 7pm.
