Church of God raises £6,000 for starving in Africa

On Thursday evening a large crowd gathered at a Coffee Evening and Cake Sale in Ballymoney Church of God.

A team of very enthusiastic volunteers organised this fundraising event to help those living ‘on the edge’ in rural Kenya where hunger and malnutrition are rife and food and water scarce commodities.

There was a great ‘buzz’ in the Youth Hall as everyone enjoyed fun, fellowship, refreshments and lots of tasty treats. The ladies had pulled out all the stops to make sure there was plenty of home baking to choose from at the Cake Sale. Also the Youth Fellowship played their part by arranging a fireside quiz as well as face painting and nail art for the children.

The staff and children of Happy Days Children’s Centre made a great contribution to the team effort by having a ‘Pyjama Day’ along with the older children who baked and sold delicious buns.

A special highlight of the evening was watching eleven men including Pastor Jonathan Payne raise funds by taking part in a sponsored ‘Leg Wax’ which in itself raised over £2000.00.

The magnificent total of £6,000 was raised as a direct result of this very special evening.

All proceeds will go entirely to help those most in need in Northern Kenya. Reach the Unreached Ministries will oversee the distribution of aid and will ensure that 100% of the money raised reaches very hungry, very needy people.

A huge thank you to everyone from the Church Fellowship to the wider Community who supported this very worthwhile cause.
