Church to host parenting course

Kilfennan Presbyterian Church is holding a parenting course aimed at parents of primary school children.

The materials used in this course have been prepared by Care for the family, a Christian organisation which aims to support family life.

The format will be a DVD presentation with guest speakers and an opportunity for questions and discussions. Topics will include building a sense of value, the power of acceptance, setting boundaries, the testing child, dealing with the facts of life, internet safety and coping with change.

There is no cost for this course as Kilfennan Presbyterian Church are eager for as many people to come along and learn more of the skills of parenting.

Kilfennan Church seeks to support family life and is offering this course to equip parents for their vital role in the 21st century.

The course will be held in Lisnagelvin Primary School and is open to all, and will run on Tuesday, September 27, Tuesday, October 4 and Tuesday, October 11, from 7.30pm until 9pm.

Jonathan Cowan, Assistant Minister in Kilfennan, said: “I hope the course will be beneficial to parents, guardians and grandparents.

“As a church in the community we would be delighted to welcome as many people to these evenings and we are confident that the content will be varied, useful and practical.”
