Churches retell Easter Story

The Easter Journey event which hopes to be as popular as the Bethlehem Village Experience which told the Christmas story that attracted around 3500 people, will be taking place from Friday to Sunday.

The basic idea behind the event is that tours will start at regular intervals and will visit various sites around the Finaghy community exploring the meaning behind Easter.

Each journey will be accompanied by a journalist who will act as a guide taking each group around the area asking the actors questions in an effort to establish what really happened.

Greg Neville youth pastor of Christ Church Belfast, explains the event, “You are going to shadow one of our journalists - whose job is to find out what really happened at Easter all those years ago.

“You will meet a number of people who all encountered the man claiming to be the Son of God. You can decide for yourself what really happened.

“We think anyone aged 8 and above will really enjoy the Easter Journey, though all are welcome to come and explore.

“As we’re expecting a large number of people to come on the journey, we would strongly encourage you to pre-book your tickets. They are free, and they allow you to avoid what might be a large queue.

“The event is 100% free whatever way you decide to book. If you book a ticket, please be there 10 minutes in advance.

“We expect the journey to last about 1 and a half hours - your journey will leave on time, so if you are late, you will miss out.”

You will get a chance to interview some of the key players, like Pontius Pilate and you can meet some of Jesus’ disciples and get the story first hand and all journeys will last about 90 minutes and start at The Easter Journey Shop, (formerly the Wee Cycle) at Finaghy Crossroads.

Journeys are departing on Friday March 27 between regularly 18.30 and 20.30 and on Saturday March 28 between 12.30 and 17.30 and on Sunday March 29 departing frequently between 13.50 and 16.50.

This event is completely free but you do need a ticket. Spaces are filling up fast. There will be places available on the night but it would be best to book online to avoid disappointment.
