Churches unite for Tour de Foyle

Church leaders in Londonderry are urging people to get on their bikes for the charity ‘Tour de Foyle’ cycle on Saturday, August 23 at Columb’s Park, at 7.30am.

It is being organised by the North West Methodist Mission and the Churches Trust and the church leaders are encouraging cyclists to undertake a scenic lap of Lough Foyle leaving St Columb’s Park, cycling to Magilligan, a ferry across to Greencastle, back to the city and across the Peace Bridge, to the finish in St Columb’s Park.

The idea is simply to bring people together from all of the communities across to raise some funding for charity in a fun event that is open to all, from the beginner to the more experienced cyclist.

To encourage wider participation from all ages, the event will also include a ‘Family Fun Cycle’ within St Columb’s Park, starting at 11am. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic to enjoy in the park while waiting for those participating in the ‘Tour De Foyle’.
