Cigarette thieves

WOULD-be cigarette thieves have been in action in north Antrim.

There have been several break-ins in recent months right across the north of the county since the start of the year.

And indeed several business premises across Northern Ireland have been targeted by cigarette stealing gangs.

And in one of the latest incidents it is believed a cigarette theft gang was behind an attempted burglary in Loughgiel.

Police say in the early hours of Friday June 10 there was an attempted break-in at commercial premises at Corkey Road. No entry was gained but damage was caused.

Police believe a blue-coloured sportcar-type vehicle was involved and are appealing for information on 08456008000 or phone Crimestoppers 0800555111.

Theft report

POLICE received a report on June 6 that an Acer laptop computer was stolen from an address in Dunloy. Police can be contacted on 08456008000 or phone Crimestoppers 0800555111.

Dervock attack

THERE has been yet another attack on a vehicle passing through Dervock.

Around 7pm on the evening of June 6 a dent was caused the driver’s door of a vehicle as it drove along Knock Road.

It is believed an item was thrown from the direction of two youths who were wearing ‘hoodies’. Police can be contacted on 08456008000 or phone Crimestoppers 0800555111.

Hatchet arrest

IN the early hours of Thursday June 9, a male was arrested at Gleneagles, Cloughmills, on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon - a hatchet. He has been charged and released on bail and is due to appear in court on July 6.

Trailer stolen

A TWIN-axle builders’ trailer was stolen from Killagan Road near Cloughmills on June 11.

A padlock was cut off a gate to gain entry to the place where the trailer was being kept.

The trailer is described as having a distinctive blue frame with red painted wheels.

The trailer had 40 bags of fertiliser and sheep fencing onboard when stolen. Police are appealing for information on 08456008000 or phone Crimestoppers 0800555111.

A 50-YEAR-OLD man was arrested on suspicion of disorderly behaviour at Hillcrest Gardens, Killyrammer, on June 11.

Chapel wall struck

IN the early hours of June 12 a male was arrested at Knock Road, Dervock, on suspicion of driving whilst unfit after a single vehicle road traffic collision with the wall of The Church of St John the Evangelist.

Trailer blaze

A TRAILER containing cardboard boxes has been set on fire and burnt at an alleyway off Castle Street in the centre of Ballymoney.

It was reported to police at 9.46am on Sunday June 12 but the blaze is believed to have taken place overnight. Police are appealing for information on 08456008000 or phone Crimestoppers 0800555111.

Money stolen

police are probing the theft of money from a taxi in Ballymoney.

A float being kept by the driver containing £70 was stolen by a passenger of the cab when the vehicle was in the Queen Street area of the town on June 12. Police are appealing for information.
