Cindy lifted for jay walking

JAY-WALKING is a serious offence- even for a pony. So when four-year-old pony Cindy got out of line in 1969 a “Bobby” promptly took her into custody.

There was no prosecution in this case, however, and Cindy, found wandering in Castle Street at 6am, was returned to more natural surroundings in the green fields near its owner’s home at the Antrim Road.

It was PC Alex Mackey who arrested Cindy but it was PC Cecil Glass who took care of her and found her a temporary home until she was claimed.

“She was a perfect prisoner,” said PC Glass “she gave us no trouble at all.”
