City firm wins major US contract to build booths

A LONDONDERRY firm has secured a $500,000 contract to supply polling booths in the USA.

The latest deal for the Pakflatt Group means the firm has secured almost $1 million worth of new business in the United States in the past nine months.

The deal with the Winchester County Board of Elections for the supply and delivery of Pakflatt’s Benjamin Franklin Voting booths follows on from a disapointment earlier this year, when the company only just missed out on the USA’s largest ever nation-wide tender for voting booths despite making it to the last three tenders.

Founder and director of Pakflatt, Patrick McGonagle said: “We work in a very dynamic market place with extremely capable, competent and aggressive competition. For a small family business to come into New York State and win one of the three big counties in the State, is a strong performance by any standard.

“I believe that Winchester’s decision to buy a product that is not manufactured in the United States is indicative of a fair and open procurement process in that the most economically advantageous offer was accepted.”
