City landlords invited to capitalise on expected tourist influx

LONDONDERRY landlords are invited to come to the Beech Hill Hotel on December 13 to learn how to capitalise on a province-wide integrated booking system and boost occupied beds throughout UK City of Culture 2013.

The event is part of a Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB) Regional Roadshow which is exploring the tourism sector’s experience of 2012 as well as opportunities to maximise bookings during 2013 for UK City of Culture events and the World Police and Fire Games which take place in August 2013.

Deirdre Harte, Tourism Development Officer for Derry City Council said: “We have already held accommodation workshops in the city to promote opportunities arising from projected growth in visitor numbers during 2013.

“This roadshow is specifically for the B&B and self-catering sector who will play an important role in the overall accommodation offering for our visitors next year.

“Further information will be available on opportunities to promote B&Bs, guesthouses and self-catering through the Passkey accommodation booking system for UK City of Culture events and the World Police and Fire Games.”

Ross Fothergill, NITB Director of Business Development said: “All the fantastic activity and events throughout 2012 has delivered a solid platform for further tourism growth. This roadshow is a great opportunity to help the development and enhancement of high quality tourist accommodation in Derry~Londonderry and beyond.”

The Londonderry event will take place on Thursday, December 13 at 2pm in the Beech Hill Hotel, Ardmore Road.

Each roadshow begins at 2pm with a Bed and Breakfast focus from 2pm-4pm and a Self-catering focus from 6pm-8pm.

All providers are welcome with no requirement to be a member of NIBBP or NISCHA.
