City leisure centres don’t have recycling facilities

LONDONDERRY is amongst the local authorities in Northern Ireland, which does not have comprehensive recycling facilities at its municipal leisure centres.

Environment Minister Alex Attwood explained, however, that waste collected at local sports complexes was recycled.

“Although Derry City Council leisure centres do not have comprehensive recycling facilities, waste collected internally at the leisure centres are

serviced on behalf of council by a contractor who segregates and recycles a percentage of the total waste collected,” he stated.
