City moving away from commuter image

Since Templeton Robinson’s doors opened on Lisburn’s iconic Market Place two and a half years ago, the business has become as much a part of the City as the office’s Director, Johnny Steen.

Johnny, a long-time Lisburn resident, says there’s no doubt the city is punching above its weight in the housing market, carving a position as not only a place to live, but a place to have a life.

“There’s a very strong market for young families and first time buyers, with houses priced up to £250,000 selling well with regular bidding situations, and small detached and semi-detached properties an integral part of the market.

“While it’s always been a hugely popular choice for homeowners, there’s no doubt that Lisburn has developed as a city, and is moving away from its “commuter” image, with a real night time economy developing. The recent public realm works have also reinforced the commitment to making Lisburn a great place to live.

Johnny, who started his career with Templeton Robinson in 1998, is a key member of the city’s business community, serving as Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce this year, and a mentor with the South Eastern Regional College local advisory board.

His two weeks work experience in the Lisburn Road office (“sticking pictures onto brochures!”) resulted in a job offer, and Johnny went on to become an Associate Director in 2004, looking after the sales team.

A Lisburn branch of Templeton Robinson, which brings the total number of offices to five across Northern Ireland, had been on the company’s wish list for a number of years and has doubled in size since Johnny opened it as a Director in 2013.

Starting out with just three members of staff, a strong demand for the company’s expertise led to rapid expansion and Johnny now works with a team of six experienced sales staff.

“Estate Agency may have changed over the years in many ways, but we love the “back-to-basics” approach that is getting results for our customers. It’s about knowing the market, getting on the phone and doing the work.”

“To have our position in the city means we’re at the heart of the market and at the centre of activity. We are proactive selling agents, and the market is most definitely out there.

“We continue to work hard for our many clients, and we’re delighted to have become a well-established and trusted Lisburn estate agency.
