City’s young people flock to convention

Young people from across Lisburn city gathered at Lagan Valley Leisureplex recently for the annual Careers Convention organised by the LisburnBusiness Education Partnership.

More than 50 exhibitors from industry, further education colleges, universities and training organisations were on hand to talk to over 1200 of the city’s teenagers about their future options.

Paul Beaton, Chairperson of the Partnership, said: “I was delighted that so many local and national organisations participated in this event and their support was much appreciated by all the pupils who attended and received excellent advice.

“On behalf of the Lisburn Business Education Partnership I would like to thank the exhibitors and our local schools for their commitment to the work of careers education and preparing students for the world of work.

“ Special thanks must go to the team from LBEP for their excellent organisation of the event.

“Many students gained valuable information about possible future careers or training opportunities, which they will be able to further pursue with the support of their Careers Teachers.”

The Mayor of Lisburn, Councillor Andrew Ewing, paid tribute to the Convention organisers and thanked all the exhibitors who took part.
