Civic centre switches to gas

THE heating at Craigavon Borough Council’s Civic Centre is switching from oil to gas with a saving of about £4,500.

Officers have now gone out to tender for the conversion which will cost in the region of £23,000. The works include additional ventilation, a gas detection system, fire damper repairs and replacement of one boiler.

Existing oil infrastructure and oil burners will be retained on site for use in the event of a disruption of gas supply.

Firmus Energy is making a contribution to help with the conversion bringing the net cost to the Council to £9,604.
