Clady ‘Safer Routes to Schools’ initiative welcomed by McPeake

“I am delighted to have received correspondence last week from Transport NI to state that they are to include the two schools within their Safer Routes to School’s programme for the current financial year,” he said.

“For some time now parents of school children attending the schools have been concerned about the safety of their children and the speed of the passing traffic near the schools, particularly in the morning and afternoon time when children are entering and leaving the school.

“Flashing warning signs will now soon be installed in close proximity to the schools in addition to the inclusion of enhanced road markings alerting traffic of the dangers and hazards associated with the schools.”

Cllr McPeake said that the DRD were currently giving due consideration to additional traffic calming measures for the village of Clady which he sought.

“Traffic monitoring and speed count information is currently taking place to assist DRD in this regard,” he added.
