Claim of rodents in cavity walls in Burnside

The council has issued an appeal to anyone experiencing rodents in the cavity walls of their homes to contact environmental health officers.

The move came in response to a post on the Burnside Village Committee Facebook page, detailing the issue of rodents in the cavity walls of homes in the area.

The post on the group’s Facebook page said: “Burnisde Village Committee have been contacted by residents living in The Brooks development area of the village. These residents have raised concerns around ongoing problems with their homes including rodents within the wall cavities.

Commenting on the issue, a spokesperson from the council said: “Antrim and Newtownabbey Council is not aware of any recent issues regarding rodents in cavity walls in The Brooks development, Burnside.

“If a resident is concerned about rodent activity in their property, they should contact the council’s Environmental Health Department on 028 9034 0160 or email [email protected] for advice.”

Praising the Burnside Village Committee for highlighting the issue, Cllr David Arthurs said: “It is great that the group have flagged this up. The council will fix the problem and find out where it is coming from so that it doesn’t happen again.”
