In response to the claims about the use of a Taser a police spokesperson said: “Anyone who has a complaint about police behaviour should contact the Ombudsman.”

Republican Sinn Fein said the tracking device was “conclusive proof that not only police but military intelligence are active in this area”.

A spokesman for the party went on to say: “This incident happened less than a mile away from where John Paul Wooton’s car was also fitted with a military tracker. Information from that mysteriously disappeared during his trial.”
