Claire goes the extra mile for charity

Clare, who is centre director of Kip McGrath Lisburn, decided to take on the challenge as part of her New Year’s resolution to get fit, and thought running for NSPCC was the perfect choice because of their work with local children. As well as donations from friends and family, Clare had the support of all her tuition pupils in Kip McGrath, who also pledged to raise vital funds for the charity.

“I am delighted to have had the opportunity to raise money for a charity that does so much to help children locally and it has been great to have the support of all the children and parents who visit our tuition centre,” said Claire. “The money people have kindly donated definitely motivated me to cross the finish line on the big day.

“I made it to the finish line in two hours and 11 minutes. I am absolutely delighted with that as it was definitely a very tough run in that heat. The atmosphere was fantastic, though, and that kept me going. That and the many kind people handing out water and sprinkling us with their garden hoses.”

Thanking Clare for her support on the day was NSPCC Northern Ireland fundraising manager, Clare Galbraith. “I am so grateful to Clare for taking on the half marathon and everyone at Kip McGrath for supporting her in her fundraising,” she said. “The support and generosity from people like Clare is invaluable; she really has gone the extra mile to raise vital funds for NSPCC local services in Northern Ireland. Her generosity will ensure we can continue with our vital therapeutic and support services in the local community; every penny really does count in the battle to end child cruelty.”
