Clarification

LAST week (Wednesday, June 2) the Sentinel reported that plastics manufacturer Invista had applied for permission to store 6,000 tonnes of fertiliser based on the volatile compound Ammonium Nitrate.

Invista has pointed out that it has not applied for consent to store the fertiliser. The application received by the Planning Office was made by a third party to store the material at Clooney Road.

The planning application is for "Hazardous Substance Consent for storage of 6,000 tonnes of Ammonium Nitrate based fertiliser."

We are happy to clarify this matter.
