Claudy firm’s gong for anti-bug shower

The boss of a Claudy-based manufacturer, which has won a top UK award for its design of a shower system for health care facilities that guards against dangerous infections like legionella and pseudomonas says it’s a huge endoresement of local research and development (R&D).

Managing Director of Multishower GB James Clarke made the comments after the firm’s Medi-Shower won an award for ‘Best Product for Enhancing Infection Prevention’ in the UK’s Building Better Healthcare Awards.

He said: “Winning this highly influential Building Better Healthcare Award is a marvellous boost for the business and all the research work undertaken at Claudy with Invest NI’s encouragement and assistance.

“The judges endorsed our shower technology as ‘a good idea and a clever design, particularly the replacement central head.

“It is cost effective and very useful in a health or care setting’. We are now stepping up our marketing activities within the healthcare sector in Britain and abroad and are confident that the orders already secured will be followed by greater business for us and further expansion of our activities.”

The company, has already grown pre-production sales of the product to over £100,000 to UK health sector clients.

The system was developed in conjunction with experts in the field of Legionella control in order to offer solutions to the problems associated with traditional shower heads currently in use in the vast majority of worldwide healthcare facilities.

The innovative product, developed with R&D support from Invest Northern Ireland, has also been included in a major European healthcare industry catalogue. Medi-Shower used an Invest NI R&D grant to develop the unique anti-bacterial showerhead and hose.
