Clocking up the costs

ALMOST £20,000 is needed to improve access to clocks around the borough.

The clocks, located in church towers in Lurgan, Donaghcloney, Waringstown and Portadown, are in need of 'significant' work to make access safe.

The council health and safety advisor, senior supervisor and contractor for the work, Smith of Derby, recommended the work to the towers.

The cost of the work has been estimated at 18,550 and the council is preparing a paper on whether grant aid could be secured for the work.
