Cloughmills create perfect blend

On Saturday 22nd September from 11am-1pm, the community group, residents and visitors to the newly developed Old Mill site in Cloughmills will take part in what is expected to be Ireland’s biggest ever coffee morning to raise funds for the local charity. Uniquely the coffee morning will be held in the group’s Mongolian Yurt.

Looking forward to enjoying a well deserved coffee break, Chair of the Cloughmills Community Action Team, Patrick Frew said: “The work that we have carried out at the Old Mill over the past year has transformed the site. The Coffee Morning is a great opportunity for people to come along, see all that is happening at the site and have your coffee in a genuine Mongolian Yurt!

“As a local charity, NI Hospice has a strong presence within our community and we are delighted to be getting involved in hosting a coffee morning on Saturday 22nd September, from 11am – 1pm. It is great knowing that something as simple as a coffee morning can raise lots of money to help provide care and support to local families who depend on hospice care.”

This year Northern Ireland Hospice will be celebrating its twentieth year of coffee mornings and it would appear that the charity have no intention of slowing down. Urging everyone to get involved and host a coffee morning this September, NI Hospice Events Fundraiser Lynn Boyce said: “This is the twentieth anniversary of our hospice coffee mornings and we want to make this year the biggest ever. Just like the Cloughmills Community Action Team, we need local businesses, community groups, organisations and individuals to get behind us and host a coffee morning for hospice.

“The event is easy to organize, very sociable and extremely worthwhile and if Saturday 22nd September doesn’t suit, you can choose another date in September or October. All money raised from coffee mornings will be used to provide hospice care to terminally ill patients in their own homes and will help support the family as a whole.”

Taking part could not be easier and everyone who registers to host a coffee party for Northern Ireland Hospice will receive a supply of complimentary Bewley’s coffee, posters, invite cards, collection boxes and a fundraising pack full of ideas of how to make the most of the occasion.

The target for the 2012 Coffee Morning is £67,000 which is needed to ensure that Hospice care is provided to local people and their families. Every cup of coffee poured for Hospice will mean two pounds has been raised for local charity and every pound will make a big difference. Every £30 raised from a coffee morning will provide an hour of specialist nursing care for a patient being cared for at home.
