Cloughmills man fined

A CLOUGHMILLS man has been given three penalty points and fined £60 for using a hand-held mobile phone whilst driving.

30-year-old Alastair Martin Alexander, a sales manager of Moneyduff Road, had the offence detected at Castle Street, Ballymoney, on November 5 last year.

North Antrim Magistrates Court in Coleraine was told last Wednesday the defendant was driving a tractor and received a call from a colleague and accepts he should have pulled in off the road.

A defence solicitor said his client has a hands-free phone kit in his car but not in the tractor.
