Cloughmills man on drugs charges

A 38-year-old Cloughmills man has appeared at North Antrim Magistrates Court on five charges relating to drugs.

Christopher Hugh Carton, of 23 Rosemount, was charged with possessing of a Class B drug with intent to supply and having in his possession a controlled Class B drug namely herbal cannabis both in the County of Antrim on August 3.

The third charge related to cultivating a cannabis plant at 35 Mullan Road, Ballymoney, on August 3; being the occupier or concerned in the management of premises, namely 35 Mullan Road, knowingly permitting or suffered on those premises the use of a controlled drug of Class B, namely cannabis, and between December 1, 2009 and January 31, 2010 at 35 Mullan Road, cultivating a cannabis plant.

A police officer said she believed she could connect the defendant to the charges and the District Judge, Mr. Richard Wilson, adjourned the case until September 22. Bail was fixed at 500.
