“This funding will go towards equipment for our Sports hall and also towards our 2 Mid-Ulster football teams. Additional specialist equipment is also going to be funded so as to assist those disabled groups using our facilities”

The Goodyear club has also been working closely in recent months with the Rural Development Council (RDC) on a project to improve the disabled access and changing/toilet facilities at the club. The work is funded by the International Fund for Ireland (IFI). In March of this year the club successfully put down a new Gerflor Sport M Plus Floor and the club has received superb feedback from users.

Tony Moore, Chairman said: “We have been working with the RDC for a couple of years now with training provided by the organisation for our club committee members in Year 1.

“We recently awarded the tender for the project to a locally based firm and it is expected the contractor will be on site shortly. To avoid disruption for our members and patrons during this period we will have measures in place to keep the Sports hall running at a reduced cost and also our social facilities will remain open throughout”
