Clubs give summer tops to Chernobyl charity appeal

A GAA club has donated tops to the Chernobyl Children’s Appeal.

Sarsfields secretary, Sean McAlinden, handed them over to Diana Dunina, a Chernobyl child from Belarus, and Bernadette Lavery, secretary of the Chernobyl Children’s Appeal charity.

The tops were left over from this and previous years summer camps.

Bernadette said: “Diana is staying with our family for three weeks as part of a respite programme organised by our local Chernobyl Childrens Appeal charity.

“There are nine children staying in the greater Lurgan area this year and we have a full programme of activities scheduled for them.

“The tops Sarsfields have donated will be given out to all our visitors and are gratefully received and will go home to Belarus for either themselves or other family members.

“We would like to thank the committee for this kind gesture.
