Co-op deniesclosure rumours

Rumours have been circulating in the town recently that the Co-op supermarket on Circular Road is to shut for good next month.

But a spokesman for Co-op has told the Larne Times that there are currently no plans to close the store.

Co-op is the fifth biggest food retailer in the UK behind Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons, but recent figures show it has been losing ground to its rivals and suffering from declining sales.
