Coaching programme to help strengthen sports clubs

A new coaching programme has been launched in Banbridge aimed at strengthening local sports clubs.

The Southern Sports Partnership (SSP) Coach Education and Club Development Programme for 2013 – 2014 offers development opportunities for coaches and those involved in running a sports club.

This year’s Coach Education programme offers a mixture of minimum operating standards workshops such as Safeguarding Children and Young People, Designated Officer and First Aid training plus a number of other courses including ‘Coaching the Whole Child’, Disability Awareness Training, SafeTALK and Clubmark NI Information sessions.

The SSP is a working group which covers seven local authority areas. The Partnership has a vision for strengthening sporting pathways that exist within their region and beyond. To help achieve this goal the SSP delivers a range of programmes focusing on participant pathways and coach and club development. The Partnership’s annual Coach Development Seminar entitled ‘Coaching Connect – Developing Tomorrows Stars Today’ is also detailed in the Coach Education and Club Development brochure along with information on the new Online Coach Management System.
